Tumble Dryers - Buyers GuideDrying Load
Drying Time When considering a new tumble dryer you will have to choose between a 'vented' or 'condenser' dryer depending on the type of machine that will best suit your needs and the space you have available. If space is at a minimum you may have to consider a compact dryer. Vented Tumble Dryers - work by expelling the hot, damp air from your wash through a hose that can be fixed to a permanent vent in an outside wall or simply hung out of a window during operation. Make sure you choose a machine with its vent in the right position for you and your kitchen. Some models have multiple outlets but others are located at the front, rear or side of the dryer. Condenser Tumble Dryers - do not need venting though an outside wall and are therefore often better for those where space is a concern. This type of dryer works buy turning steam created by drying clothes into moisture which is then collected in a water reservoir that can be removed and emptied when necessary.
Drying Method All machines in the UK employ one of the following drying methods: - Uni-Directional models are often entry level machines as they dry clothes in a drum that only rotates in one direction. Reverse Action tumble dryers are better because the drum rotates in both directions to help untangle clothes and prevent creases, making ironing easier. Sensor Drying tumble dryers automatically stop the machine when the clothes have reached the level of dryness that you have selected and therefore save you time and money by not over drying your clothes and cutting down on your electricity bill. Multi-Programme tumble dryers with features such as "crease-guard" and "woollens" will be able to offer the greatest flexibility, increased fabric care and reduce your ironing time.
